my grandpa just passed away last night :(

our family patriarch is gone. such a sad day we knew he was going, but i didn't think it was going to be this soon. I had planned to fly out to chicago in three weeks to see him.

this sucks.

Sucks. My granddad died a couple months ago. It was the first time I'd ever seen my father cry.

Sorry to hear that. If you don't mind me asking, what did he die from? I had both of my grandfather's die within a year of each other 5 years ago.

@zero: fluid in his lungs is what my dad was telling me. he had surgery last week to cut out some of his small intestine, and he just never got better. his health had been failing him the past couple of years. it was so hard to see him go from a strong vibrant man to what he became physically just before he passed.

Similar thing happened to one of my grandpa's. He went in for hip surgery. He was healthy before that but fell and broke his hip. He got worse after the surgery and died. I guess some people are bad with surgery and give up.

Sorry for your loss.

My Dad passed away a little over a week ago. Cancer, had surgery to remove a tumor from his colon in Winter 2005. He was fine for an year or so when things got scary all over again. Over the past year, it had spread to his liver, lungs and most recently his brain. Horrible way to go.
