So I got the bright idea that I could grow some watercress indoors so I could have some fresh veggies each week without going to the store. I read about this one aquaponics set up where there's two tanks, one with plants and the other with three goldfish to supply the plants with nutrients. Well the only other fish tank I have currently has my betta in it, so I decided to try to grow the watercress and goldfish in the same tank. Unfortunately, the goldfish seems to be eating all my watercress and they're pooping at an insane rate. I've got nearly 25 pounds of gravel for the plants to take root in and I swear the poop from the goldfish are starting to cover up all the gravel and it's only been two days since I've placed the three goldfishes in. Until I can get another tank, how exactly does one go about cleaning out that much goldfish poop from an aquarium without losing the gravel?
