I've noticed it for a few months now, and I thought that both nostrils were black, but I just saw that only one is. Could it be a rock stuck in there or is it just normal?

I'll try to get some...

It won't stop swimming, and when it does, it goes into one of the back corners so I can never get a good shot.

Fish have nostrils?

In an case, I had a small goldfish that changed color (from gold to black and back to gold) several times over the course of it's existence. Depends on the species. Probably normal though. How could it inhale a rock anyway?

One of my fish turned black when it was sick but then it turned gold again, but I don't think it's normal ;)

Anyways, this is just like a tiny speck. It looks like the inside of his nostril is black. He likes to suck up the tiny rocks and spit them out, looking for food I'm guessing. So somehow a rock might have gone from his mouth to his "nostril" or whatever it is. But it hasn't affected him.
