In response to some stainless steel shop tables I posted on CL:

NOT TO BE RUDE BUT OMG MAN ,, YOU CAN GO TO THEE RESTURANT SUPPLY STOE AND GET TRUE STAINLESS STELL TABLES (( WITH NO PLYWOOD )) FOR A HELL OV A LOT LESS ,, MAN WHERE DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT OUTRAGEOUS PRICE FROM ??

My reply:

My price may be high, but at least I can read, write, and spell correctly.

Im really happy for u and imma let u finish, but thee resturant supply stoe has the best true stainless stell tables of all-time

Yeah, rudeness and spelling aside, that has become quite the norm on CL now. I find that I'm dealing now more or as much (maybe 52/48&#37😉 with asshats than I am with good people. That above email is almost always followed by a "but I do need one, so I'll give you_________ for it." (Insert obligatory 40% lowball figure here.)

Sellers are free to price their stuff however they want, though. I mean if I was a seller, I'd be much more likely to consider a polite offer from someone (even if it was a bit low) than an email like the OP got. Chastising me for my pricing isn't a good way to win me over.

And nine times out of ten, it's the buyers that have unreasonable expectations and lowball, as opposed to the seller overcharging.

Not everyone purchases their steel tables at restaurant supply houses. Many pay retail and even above retail. Perhaps this goof paid a high price and is just looking to recoup some of his money. In the theory of 'there is always a bigger fool', I would bet he is just looking for that bigger fool to sell his steel table to. Let him try. If you don't want the table, why are you messing with him? There are lots of overpriced stuff on Ebay and Craigslist. It's the buyers job to determine what things are worth.

I called a little mouthy punk on cl who was being a smartass over text, he has NEVER contacted me since about any of my ads. He used to text me about EVERY iphone I list.

Who is this message meant for? :hmm:
