Hey guys my gf spilled on her laptop and she turned it around and turned it on a day or two later. Apparently it's worked fine for a day and now it's running super slow. Any idea what the problem could be?

Was there sugar in the tea? If it got into the fan and gummed it up the CPU might be overheating and going into cripple mode.

Check temps, then check hard drive speed with something like HDTune.

Should have spilled Black Tea on it. Everyone knows that black makes computers go faster.

Go online, get the service manual for that model, and see if you feel comfortable taking it down to where you can see if any damage was done. My wife spilled wine all over her Dell, and within a half day I had it down to the motherboard to clean up/dry out the components. She was back up and running within hours. Just be sure you follow the steps in the manual and take pics of anything you think you may not remember how to do when reassembling. If you have any mechanical skills at all, laptops are not that complicated to service. Good luck.

Depends on laptop...some are bitches to service and I am mechanical esp if they are using 10-15 different length screws with the same thread pitch.

In general with liquids...turn it off immediately, pull the battery and keep it off until you know it's dry. You may have been causing small shorts this whole time leading to further degradation.

You will want to open it up and reseat everything and give it a good blowing out.
