My gf's uncle just passed...

Tig Ol Bitties

Senior member
Passed a couple days ago from the after-effects of a stroke. Anyways, my gf wants me to compile a list of songs to make a cd for her 2 cousins (the daughters) by Tuesday. Im asking ATOTers here to help me out to list any songs that you can think of off your head.

We're looking for songs that involves comfort, inspiration, or any songs involving personal loss. The daughters are younger 20-ish, and typically listen to R&B/Pop/light rock type music, which are typically the kind of genres I'm looking for anyways for this category. Here's a list of songs we've come up with so far:

Landslide - Smashing Pumpkins or Fleetwood Mac
Dance w/ my Father - Luther Vandross
I Miss You - Incubus
Tears in Heaven - Clapton
One Sweet Day - Mariah w/ Boyz II Men
Anytime You Need a Friend - Mariah
You Are The Sunshine Of My Life - Stevie Wonder
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole
Have I Told You Lately - Rod Stewart
My Father's Eyes - Amy Grant <--- I hate her btw, gf's suggestion
Raise Your Hands to Heaven - Breathe
I'll Remember - Madonna
If Only Through Heaven's Eyes - NSync
By Your Side - Sade
In My Life - Beatles

These were off the top of our heads. We're not going to use all these songs...we're just listing for now, and we'll pick the best out of the bunch. In the meantime, I'm going to go through my mp3 collection to find more stuff. Thanks for any help ATOT, we greatly appreciate it!!

As much as I love U2, if you look at the lyrics, Walk On isn't really suitable.

Of course, as Edge says, nobody cares about the lyrics.

with a name like tig ol bitties i figure ying yang twins song would be nice 0_o
seriously sounds like a solid cd
but.. seeing a name like tig ol bitties while discussing something not funny like death well.. just isnt funny

Actually, we realize a lot of these songs aren't considered "suitable", but they can pass to express some similiar emotions, but I hear you though. It was certainly a song we were considering dropping. It's kind of hard coming up with songs covering this topic.

Kenny Chesney - Who You'd Be Today - Lyrics
Gary Allen - Life Aint Always Beautiful - Lyrics

Not really R&B/Pop/light rock but two country songs with some powerful lyrics.

Im confused on why his screen name has anything to do with the subject or his request.

Atmosphere - Caved In

It's a song about the guys father dying. Very good song.

Trying to stay away from hip-hop, or any sort of it for this. Never heard of this artist, interesting sound though.

I agree, very powerful lyrics...unfortunately, the girls hate country...can't stand the accent I guess.
