And car in the $20k range now days will have a 200+ HP V6.
I didn't mean to come off so harsh, but I've been in that situation. I was in love with the Boxster S for a long time (similar to the 360 spider that I don't have the money for at the moment)
I just could not get over the weak 260 HP. 320 HP 3.6L would have been fine. To make it worse, there is hardly a aftermarket for newer porsches that doesnt cost $20,000 to turbo charge and then your still left with less than 400 HP on the Boxster.
I was not going to spend that much money on a Porsche to get smoked by a Nissans and cheap V6 mustangs that also have 260 HP and far bigger after market.
I ended up with a '03 Cobra with 390 HP factory and now with 600+ at the wheels.
I still like the Boxster, but I know if I had gotten it, I would have been pissed the first time a mustang or something wasted me. I don't have that problem with the Cobra.
People will say "oh but handling" and other nonsense. BS. There sure as hell aren't any "twisties" when someone in a "better handling" car pulls up in the lane next to you and starts revving... "twisties" only come into play after they've lost and they make excuses.
For example someone someone in a (making up numbers) 200 HP BMW will waste someone in a 100 HP 4 banger, but when a Cobra or Vette wastes the BMW they start talking about twisties... they are full of it.
Mine was $16,900 new with the sport suspension package and lsd.

Don't mind him. Going fast is fine and dandy but man I love navigating a twisty mountain road.

Check his sig!
I have sigs turned off, as I'd rather not read the little brain farts people like to put down there.
My sarcasm meter must be broken.

Yeah people like this (you perhaps?) aren't concerned with being 'fast' as long as you can pick off the little guys. You say quarter mile times don't matter that balance and handling are everything, yet you rev at lights pick on people with half the car that you have at stop lights and straight aways.
Once somebody your own size schools you, you play down power and speed and say its all about twisties and handling and argue that your 175 HP car can take a 700 HP car in the twisties.
I've heard it over and over and over again

So I guess the Lotus Elise with 190 hp doesn't count, huh?
lol I'm not even gonna go into how confusing that statement is.Originally posted by: exdeath

Hey I never said a car couldn't LOOK sporty and still not be a sports car right?

You'll never hear someone with a BMW complaining about about twisties as long as they are wasting Hondas and Toyotas on a straight run from a stop (ie: 1/4 mile), but smoke their asss with a vette or a mustang and suddenly they cry about twisties.

Oh that?s a good one, referring to his Miata as a sports car!
To the OP, thanks for making me laugh, I needed it!
Seth
Ha ha. Someone doesn't know what a sports car is
These are sports cars

This is sporty, not a sports car.

Exotics are a subset of sports car, sure.
Not only is a Miata a pure sports car (as opposed to sporty), it may just be the definitive sports car currently in production in the US.

Oh my dear holy god... I'M A "NOOBTARD!!!!!"
LOL...Way to use my word!
Acaeton...is that the '06 RX-7? I'm sorry, but if you don't think that car is hawt (and going to liberally whip domestic sports-car ass) you're insane.
And someone at my work drives an NSX. It's nothing special. Waste of money, IMHO.
