Oh that?s a good one, referring to his Miata as a sports car!
To the OP, thanks for making me laugh, I needed it!

This is sporty, not a sports car.

There is a slight price difference between the Miata and your cars listed .
Funny thing is, the only difference between all of those "sports cars" you mentioned and the Miata is the fact they have huge gobs of power.
All have a 4 wheel independent suspension, all are 2 seaters, all have 4 wheel disc brakes, all are RWD, and all are generally considered light weight. The NSX is a MR layout, but thats the only real "different" feature between any of the cars listed.
Just because the car doesn't push out 300+HP doesn't mean its not a sports car. If you look at classic sports cars (espically the british roadsters), you'll understand exactly what the Mazda engineers were trying to accomplish. A great handling, lightweight, RWD roadster with no reliablity issues. That is exactly what they made. If you wanted a Mazda Super Car, and you had the money, you would have bought one of these..
I just think its funny how you say a car that was based off the Lotus Elan isn't considered a sports car.
All I'm saying is just because some 400-pound lard can throw a baseball and run to first base, doesn?t make him an athlete. And just because the miata is a 2 seater and has 4 wheel independent suspension doesn?t make it a sports car.

...low, small, rwd, lightweight, driver feel, nimble..
I'm still not convinced you know what a sports car is
Me too.
A Miata is a sportscar.
