He was a super kitty. A complete attention whore. My gf's baby. Had a purr so loud that you could hear him from the other room.

He was diagnosed with lymphoma Friday afternoon. Vet didn't give a precise expectancy but said it could be as long as 6 months. He lasted 36 hours. Died in my gf's arms this morning. He gave her 9 wonderful years of companionship.

Hearing her say her goodbyes while he was dying was the saddest thing I've witnessed in a long, long time. The tone of her voice still haunts me. :(

I'd wait a few weeks for grieving, but that's probably a good idea.

Seriously, it was likely better that he went quickly vs. a long, drawn out death, which can be even more painful, emotionally.

You just don't know how bad it's going to be when my wife's cat Tres dies.

She's 13 now............. I'll just die (tearing up just thinking about it)

Losing a cat hurts. A year or two ago I took some time off work to go with my mom to put my childhood cat down. It was so weird to see her lie there without breathing.

We told her she was a "good kitty," gave her some last pets, cried, and said our goodbyes.

I can feel your pain. My GF's cat died last November and she cried for weeks. All I can tell you is to be supportive for the next couple of weeks.

I'm very sorry to hear about that.

I caught my cat taking a s**t in my house this morning. He's not going to survive long if he continues that.

my cat died too, after 11 years - same thing. It was a pretty siamese that was a talker. I never really wanted another cat. Ended up with a parrot I love very much.

I'm sorry for your loss. . .

He probably should wait at least a few months, probably more like six. It would really only make it worse if he showed up with a kitten after only a couple weeks of her cat being gone.
