OK, I'm a geek. I work as a consultant for a software company. I love gadgets and computers and all things geeky, BUT HOLY MOTHER, can anyone be so hooked on a device as fast as she has with her Blackberry?!

She's had it three weeks and it's becoming a feckin' passion killer, buzzing all the time... :|

Anyone else experienced this addiction?

Hers is colour but it's not more than 256 I don't think. plus it's a reflective screen which I thinks sucks.

Look out for all the Blackberry enabled mobile phones from Siemens, Nokia, etc...
 
We got them here at our office... the phone/pda combo ones... I hate them... do NOT want one... every time I see someone with one, they are always buzzing and grabbing it... annoying...

I did consider at one time to apply at RIM... I'm happy where I am now though... 🙂

Constant connection to everything.

We use them extensively where I work (roughly 1/3 of our employees have them). With a BES behind them + unlimited data they are actually quite useful. Ever get that "I need Google" feeling when you want to know something & you don't have a PC available? Blackberry solves that for me.

The only thing I don't like about them is people have a tendency to try to type & drive - My old boss did it, & now my gf does too. Scares the hell out of me, as if talking weren't bad enough.

Typing and driving!?!? I'm sorry but that should be a revoking of someone's license for 3-6 months. That is beyond scary.
 
I have a friend who is a software engineer at RIM as well. I also knew a girl who worked there and she quit because her blackberry was always going off and work was always contacting her at home and ish.
