My gas gauge on my Scion says F for full, and "R" for empty?

WTF? Does it stand for "Refill"? Was the "E" template on the printing machine broken that day? What happened there?

It's to save you the trouble of deducing the need to refill from knowing the tank is empty.

Winnar! :)

There's only one tank though- there's no "reserve" tank!

Like most cars, I'm sure it hits "empty" (or "reserve" in your case) well before it's actually empty. The "reserve" is the last X gallons of your tank (it's about 4 gallons on my car after the light turns on)

if having a car that will run for 250K miles with basic maintenance is a bad thing I guess they do suck :p

Who wants a car that long anyway? That's why I rely on good ol' Ford tough vehicles!! Will work great for you for the first 80k till you need another one, new color anyone? That is if your gas tank doesn't explode, wheels fall off, tires shred, gets recalled or any of the fun stuff they pack in each one. If you get a boring one with no suprises you can go 70k at least before a new engine and tranny.

Hey! my Escort has gone about 160k(65k from me) without any major issues. The biggest problem I had was my clutch died. I knew it needed to be replaced but was putting it off and ended up stuck.
