i was planning on getting a new computer i was deciding on these 3 processors
P4 3.0C HT
AMD athlon XP 3200+
AMD socket 939 for the dual channel mobo i think like 3200

i play cs soon HL2 i browse internet with mozzila firefox i use vent and trillan nothing big i dont use adobe i heard the 3200 would be the best for what i do

the rest of my comp would be
2x512mb dual channel 2-2-2-5 by corsair
ATI x800 pro 256mb
2 74gb raptor drives 10,000 rpm SATA on raid 0

if i got AMD 3200
DFI board lan party edition
if 64bit wait for the new DFI socket 939
if i get the p4 the ASUS e deluxe one dont feel like looking it up
somone told me the p4 HT and a64 are for multi tasking

i have a big window i plan getting dual UV cold cathodes so the lan party will look real nice with all the UV IDE cables and SATA cables looks are a big thing for me i think i went over anything if u have an answer u and post it here i would like aim or msn better

dont even bother about basing your decision on 64-bit capabilities. it has nothing to do wtih current performance in the 32-bit environment. of the 3, the xp3200+ is definintely out of the question, since it is by far the worst cpu that you've listed. go with the athlon 64 since they are better at gaming then a P4 and are better performers overall than a P4. dual channel has very little affect on the athlon 64, since they already have an integrated memory controller, so dont worry about that either. as for multi-tasking, both are great at multi-tasking, but the P4, because of its hyperthreading, performs a bit better.
