My galaxy tab 7.7 is really picky about the charger it uses

Can anyone help explain why?

No other electronic is as picky. Even apple. But the galaxy tab *must* be recharged from a Samsung AC adapter, and it won't work with power banks.

My original Galaxy Tab 7 is the same way. I pretty much have to use the nonstandard Samsung supplied charger or it won't charge.

You guys have weird devices.

I have both the original charger/cable and a couple of third-party chargers and cables (no-name and Nexxtech) for my original Galaxy Tab, and I never had an issue using any of them for charging.

My S.O. has the original Tab 10, and also uses third-party cables/chargers without any problems.

strange. i had a tab 7.7 for a year before i sold it to get the nexus 7. it worked with third party chargers and with my anker portable battery pack. it was a little finicky with one third party cable, but just fine with two other third party cables.
