My G/F's Dad keeps making promises he won't keep

My g/f was given a 64? Barracuda by her Dad a long time ago. She never had much interest as it's old and beat up, but it doesn't need that much work to run, but he never does anything with it. He won't let me go work on it and nor do I really have the money. And he hates me. We really need the second car now, as my Bonne's transmission died, and I'm just sick of screwing with it. Now I'm having to deal with her feeling her Dad has kind of abandon her and so it's interrupting my usually snug little home. GRRRR I wish her Dad wasn't such a drunk loser. This is going to be a drawn out thing, and I'll add pics of the car after this weekend when we go see them. BTW Its sweet, but needs the interior redone, and a paint job. I'm not too familiar with what it needs mechanically, but he said it just needed a bit of work to get the engine purring.

This is NOT it, but it looks exactly the same: http://groups.msn.com/MarkandVelana/64barracudarestoration.msnw

Sorry I'm tired, and have been consoling her for the past hour after she got off the phone with her Mom.

Cliff Notes
1. g/f's dad gives her car that has been sitting in the garage for years.

2. he promises her he'll fix it up for her.

3. he drinks too much and puts it off for over a year.

4. my bonneville blows it's transmission.

5. we're stuck splitting driving her buick.

6. g/f cries, a lot.

I should have thought of that. Just let him make a ceremony of handing over the title, and bring it to my grandad's garage, and commence to work. That just might work. I think it's the lack of father/daughter bonding thing that has complicated the whole situation.

Unfinished Projects of said man:

'57 Chevy Pickup
'81 BMW M3
Two Harley Davidsons
'70 Ford Pickup

These things are just rotting away in his garage and back yard.

So this ain't the end -
I saw you again today
Had to turn my heart away
You smiled like the Sun -
Kisses for everyone
And tales - it never fails!

You lying so low in the weeds
Bet you gonna ambush me
You'd have me down on my knees
Wouldn't you, Barracuda?

Back over Time when we were all
Trying for free
Met up with porpoise and me
No right no wrong your selling a Song-
A name whisper game.

If the real thing don't do the trick
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn it out to the wick
Aren't you, Barracuda?

"Sell me sell you" the porpoise said
Dive down deep to save my head
You...I think you got the blues too.

All that night and all the next
Swam without looking back
Made for the western pools - silly fools!

I think that will be the first song played on the radio when it finally does get going. It's Blondie right?

you want to solve your problem? buy your own damn car

as long as you depend on other people for money/housing/transportation/etc. you leave yourself open to getting screwed. so either take care of it yourself or dont whine

Quit crying/bitching about it and do something about it.

That would mean fixing the car yourself. Its her car, her dad can't force you to not work on it. He already hates you, so what have you got to lose.

Marry her and fix the car, buy your own damn car, or quit whining about it.
Pick one of the options :)

QUIT BLAMING YOUR PROBLEMS ON HER DAD AND GET YOURSELF A CAR. HIS PROBLEMS ARE NOT WHAT'S CAUSING THE ISSUES. DON'T DEFLECT RESPONSIBILITY

You had a problem reading that?

I'm not so sure the post was the problem, unless of course you were grading him.

Shut up.

Meh. If the title's still in his name, the car is still his. If he really transferred the ownership to her, fsck him and fix that bad boy up. Sounds like a sweet ride.
