So yesterday my g/f calls me up in tears.. apparently one of her supervisors -- this slimy, fat, pitiful excuse for a man -- made a move on her. :| He'd been hounding after her ever since she started working there a couple months ago, but never tried anything. This time, he came up and grabbed her and kissed her (on the cheek/neck thankfully) in front of another employee. Then later, while she was trying to settle her accountabilities he came up and started stroking the back of her leg.

So, she did the right thing (for which I'm VERY proud of her for) and talked to the owner/general manager of the establishment, who gave her the option of deciding the offender's punishment (leave without pay, termination, alternate shifts). She declined and left it up to the GM so he too did the right thing and forced the bastard to quit.

It's terrifying what psychological consequences such things have on people..she had expressed worry that she had been leading him on, which is ridiculous and I had to convince her otherwise. She's still on edge from this, and I don't blame her. The only thing that bothers me is that this guy might try to retaliate in some way...but she says he's not the type to do that.

In any case, if I see this guy ever again (not terribly unlikely; small town) I'm going to "punchisize his face for free."
I've never been a violent person but when someone has the audacity to disrespect the love of my life like that, well, he's earned a free meal at Steve's house of Knuckle Sandwiches, that's all I can say.:|

Why wait till you see him again by chance, so he may do it to someone else (or to her again)? Search and destroy.

Sounds like your g/f kept her cool and did the right thing... reminds me of the time I found out that the manager of the restaurant I was working at was previously fired from Hot Dog on a Stick for threatening a (female) employee with a knife :Q

I agree! I would feel the same way if that ever happened to my baby.

You can be glad that the guy is no longer around, though. He fscked up, and paid the price.

heh heh...Steves house of Knuckle Sandwiches....

Anyways, your girl could always sue, and end up owning the company. Most people dont mess around with sexual harrassemnt suits. Also, make sure he gets his free meal in an out of the way place, or it could very well be YOU standin in front fo the judge. And, as sad as it is, the excuse "He harassed my girl!!' isnt acceptable defense for assualt and battery. Or Murder 1, whichever you may choose.

Either way, he deserveth the beat down-eth.

To the maximum-eth.

I suggested the legal route, but her gripe was with the individual, not the company. She doesn't feel that what she went through warrants any more than the termination of the offender.

And as for the beat-down, it'll probably start and stop with a swift kick to the jerk's offending organ with my Chippewa Steel-Toe fireman's boots. As much as I enjoy a fair fight, making him a eunuch seems like the best way to stop him from ever doing that again. After all, he did abuse his authority and pick on someone smaller than him.

One could, technically, argue that you will be doing the same ;)

Seriously though, if I was you and your girl was mine and I was married to her like I am to my girl and she loved me like my wife does and I had boots like yours, that dude would be eating his food through a straw for about a month. It'd be ugly. For him anyways.

As far as suing, if her GM took care of the situation when it was brought to his attention, then I think suing would be a BS thing to do. If she complained and nobody did anything about it, that's one thing. But suing after it was immediately resolved is complete and total BS. Too many people in this country looking for the easy PAYDAY and ready to sue at the drop of a hat. If the US was more like parts of Europe, where you had to pay legal costs of the other party if you lost, then there wouldn't be NEARLY as many frivilous suits clogging the already overburdened legal system.

I agree totally topgun. I was simply saying its an option. I'm SO tired of the sue this, sue that, sue them attitude....

She would have no legal recourse if the GM took care of it. The only people that win sexual harassment cases, are those that are against the owner, or where the company does nothing to the offender/tries to sweep it under the rug.

I say go pay a visit. I a while back.. (in the days my wife and I got a long) there was a guy a her work who always said stupid things. He never actually said them to her but said them out loud. I went up to her work and took her to lunch. I made sure I saw this guy so he would know who I was. He was a slick jerk. Anyhow after he saw me, my wife never had a problem with him again. Nuff said. Go and pay a visit.

He's seen me before. I came into her work place and he greeted me to tell me how lucky I was.
I didn't think anything of it and this was before he started really trying to get on her.
Now he'd better not see me again.

The part that made me sick was that since I live out of state, he kept telling her that he'd talk me into letting him "take care of her" while I'm gone. WTF.

Had a similar experience when I first started out. A departmental manager would constantly hang around my desk, ask me personal questions, make comments, invite me out...and eventually another coworker noticed what was going on and went to my bosses, with my permission. They flipped their lids and talked to the guy who got mad at me but let's just say it wasn't a problem again. A few weeks later I accepted a job at another of our offices.

GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY! Too freakin funnay, my man!
I so completely pulled a baffled after reading that and spewed Coke all over my keyboard. Luckily, I had a spare on the floor next to me.

Her employer did the right thing. They have a lot to lose if they didn't take that action, as the Court ruled that reasonable man's/person's perception of what's sexual harassment is sufficient for the employee to sue. The employers have to prove that they took precautionary measures and tried to remedy the situation. They really had no option if they didn't want to be slapped with a lawsuit and a huge sum spent on litigation. I'm glad your gf was given options and settled for what made her comfortable.

"It's terrifying what psychological consequences such things have on people.."

Uhmm . . . I wouldn't give it that measure unless it happened for ages (too long, that is), otherwise it's a temporary thing that disappears if resolved early.

Want some pepper spray? I'm still waiting to hear from Nik for the results of the sh!t I sent him. (though he did say that ViperGTS sprayed some on a bush, and it killed the bush). I can send some to ya, but you gotta video tape the results of it. ;) :D

Well Im glad upper management took care of it what a slimeball.
You should get a pic. And then someone should host a website for the slimeballs hall of shame.
Or better yet if the jerk retaliates (I hope he doesnt) and your gf sues or something, get the court to have public humilation for like 1000 hours ie. Have him wear a sign saying hes a dirty slimeball who sexually harassed someone at work in a busy intersection.
