My frustrations with my network

After spending all day yesterday planning through a VM reconfiguration (hosts, SAN, 1G -> 10G conversion, new switches, etc), I come home to my internet not working. After spending two hours arguing with the TWC T1 support over the draconian definitions of 'Internal Network' vs 'External Network' (no really! The modem doesn't have an external IP address! I do not need to reset my Windows 10 IP stack!), and that they definitely positively do NOT have an outage in the area, she finally agrees to 'send someone out' today to look at the physical wiring. Internet automagically fixes itself two hours later. FML

I thought the purpose of the sticky was random entertaining anecdotes, borne from the frustrations of network engineers. Is it not?

The sticky is for Real General Frustration issues and Not for make believe (douchey) Anecdotes.

Out of courtesy to the OP I just moved it rather than delete it..

Next time you can post it in its "Natural" Environment OT.

So are most of the posts in that thread, again, this was just meant to be another funny anecdote from a network engineer.

Agree to disagree I guess. Mods feel free to lock this as it's not going to go anywhere.

I had almost the exact thing happen this Christmas. My internet connection went from 25 mbs download to 0.21 mbs.
The more I screwed with it the worse it got. I'm glad I took print screens of the speed tests to show the tech when he arrived the next day. But of course before he arrived it healed itself. He did tweak it a bit and assisted getting my NVR up and running before he left.
