No, I'm not talking about software crashing or whatnot..
I am talking about upgrading hardware.

I do not have conflicting irqs or driver issues but i have problems with keeping up!! I've read on the Video forums and have noticed that many of you will be getting the G4 4200. I was planning to get that..until I headed up to another forum. There I found the the Radeon 8500's sucessor, the R300 is comming out in Aug-Sept. It is planned to have full DX9 Support. If I did buy a a 4200, wouldn't I be left in the dust again? DX9 is indeed heading our way pretty soon so what's a guy to do?

Here's another problem..
My PC is loud!!
My system cannot run at default speeds(AMD 1200) due to the fact that I have a scracted up alpha 6045 and a crappy fan that makes lots of noise. I am currently underclocking at 100/33 with 8x multiplier! There's also this constant whining which I eventually found was caused by the fan on my Radeon 7200 and the Hardrive. The powersupply also makes a large amount of noise. I have tried changing the fan with one quieter yet it did not help much. I also found that the current chipset on the mobo(passive) burns the hand to the touch(i own a K7master). To make my PC quiet..I would have to do the following:
Buy new quiet PSU (the one from www.quietpc.com looks good) $65
Buy new heatsink (Ax-7 or Alpha 8045) $35
Buy a quiet chipset cooler for the radeon and mobo chipset $15x2
Buy a hard drive silencer $30

Total Cost=$160 (not including S&H)

What's a guy to do?

Common, your comp can't be that loud. I had a total of 7 80mm fans, 2 92mm fans, 1 60mm fan, 4 40mm fans, and some chipset fans in there. 3 of the 80mm were pulling bare air in with no filters at all to dampen the noice.

Now its down to 5 80mm, 1 82mm, and some chipset fans.

Have you tried cleaning out the noisy fans yet? Coud be a dust/dirt problem. Try oiling them up some too. How hot is your pc? Do you ahve adequate airflow?
