a couple of pics here:

Front and back of box pics

I finally got some time to listen to them.
They're more than loud enough (probably hitting 130db), and they hit hard, and clean. He's really happy, but I don't think his neighbours will be :Q

<< do you really need speakers like that in a car. its a bit much dont you think? >>

Definetely, I agree it's overkill. A single of those 12's in a sealed box would have been plenty for average listening. But if you wanna be heard a long ways away...... :D :D

130 db... i think not.

edit: speaker wire is also overkill, maybe even your power (hard to tell from the pic) Not trying to crap in your thread but I'm just saying... maybe for future reference when installing systems into cars. Your whole care is wired with nothing greater than 16 guage wire, except for things around the alternator and the batterie cables. I could see a thicker gauge wire being used for amp power and ground, but it doesn't need to be anything ridiclously large. (spelling... i need to work on it)

130db, you don't think so? It's pretty close if not. They do have a slight rise of about 2db in the 60hz region, so if it were to go throgh an all-out SPL scenario, it probably would come damm close to 130db.

Definetely overkill, but it looks nice.
Power wire's 4g, all the way from the battery clamp, to the underhood fuse, to the amp. The remote wires an 18g, and the 4-5foot ground is only 10g. Like you said, you don't need any thicker :)

It was the both of us installing the amp, building the box, I did the box planning, he basically did all the dirty work. Hey, it is HIS system afterall :p

Bassmaster's is reserved for the 140db crowd ;) Soon nate, soon :D
