My friends monitor looks better

We both have Samsung Syncmasters.

His is a 22" mine is a 19"

both are widescreen

His displays 16:9 and 16:10 mine does just 16:10

his displays 1440x1050

mine does 1440x900

we both have same color correction

his looks clearer and better on colors

mine is a model 941bw

his is a model 225bw

Why does his look better?

different monitors. different panels (tn vs tft).

even same make/models can be quite different. dell is a good example as they often use different panels in the same model line.

They're both TNs. By and large, larger panels look better. Of course, there are exceptions, but that is the case here (Samsung 9xxBW vs 22xBW B-TN panels). To be more specific, his may have better contrast and dithering algorithms. It could perhaps be more uniform as well.

err... yes, they are both tn panels (my bad) but they are different panels.

different resp. time, different contrast ratio, different brightness, different color support, etc.

Your video cards the same?....same monitor cables and both using DVI? ...As they have stated quality of TN panels varies between models as well, so when you add all the above up,not surprising one looks better then another.
