Am I missing something. He says there is something for the nexus 4 that gives it extended battery and he'd like that function. Will trade me straight up my old nexus 4 (looks brand new, always had a cover and screen protector) for his brand new nexus 5.

BTW I have a ton of photos, work stuff, apps, text apps etc on my nexus 4, What's the easiest way to get it over to the nexus 5. Has anyone owned both? I actually love the nexus 4 and couldn't be happier with it but if I can trade up for free to newer, better camera/screen. I'm tempted.

Thanks

Nexus 5 is better in every aspect. Speed, camera, screen, etc. Value wise the Nexus 4 sells in the neighborhood of $175 while the Nexus 5 16GB is $325 ish.

Nexus 4 has an intergrated, non-removable battery. Not sure what your friend is referring to, unless me means an external battery pack.

Your friend is foolish. Make the transaction before he discovers the internet.

he's pretty knowledgeable and I think you have to remove the backing. But I'm not keen on looking it up. It works well for me. What's the best way to seamlessly transfer everything over to the new phone?

to my knowledge, it won't be seamless. Google plus and google drive can manage a lot of the files & photos. Apps will re-download themselves upon activation. there will be a bit of work involved but it shouldn't take more than an hour or so depending on your level of customization.

Especailly since you're moving from 4.4 on N4 to 4.4 on N5. they are not equal.

Maybe he is having battery issues? I know once I turned down the location accuracy my battery life improved quite a bit.

I don't know what your friend is talking about. Sounds good for you, unless he complains after the fact. Transferring everything over will be a hassle, but the hassle will be worth it, for the upgrade to the Nexus 5.

P.S. Tell your friend to turn off LTE and voila, Nexus 4 imitation. ;) See if that improves his battery life.

Do it!!!!

As for transferring apps and stuff over, I've used the program Helium. Works great for me! Find it on the google play store.

possibly something wrong with his particular device. ask to test it for a few days first.

but dont expect miracles of the nexus 5's battery; battery life benchmark results are pretty dismal here and there. combined with a bad production batch, damages or fatigue from use it can quickly turn into a serious problem.
