and we couldn't get it to work. It was the final release, but inserting a boot disk and trying to access the CDROM didn't work. I tried to change the boot sequence to the CDROM first, but it still didn't work.

Then I read the README file, and it says: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1: Pentium 233 or higher

DOH!

I was just wondering, what if I tried to install software in which the HW requirements weren't met? WOuld it still let me install?

He had XP on his other computer though, and it was pretty sweet...I'll stick to my 2000 though

hehe my Dell P200 is still cranking away. I wouldn't want to install XP on it though, even though it runs nice on my P3 @ 930 :)

somehow i don't think it checks to insure minimum requirements. i bet i could install it on a 486. might take a long time to boot. hmmm... that could be something to do today... throw an HDD and cdrom in the old 486...

Ok, I just installed XP yesterday and had the same problem. Couldn't boot. It turned out that the problem was the cd rw media that I used. I recopy it to a cdr media and it worked fine. Maybe you want to try that. About the minumum requirement, I don't know the requirement but I tried to install Win ME on my P100, it said minumum requirement was P150.

Yeah, I was like: "maybe it doesn't meet the requirements, but we'll try anyways."

I told him just to run Linux on it.
