My friend tried DMT. Never heard of that drug.

Drugs are not for me, but I'm just curious what the hell it is as I never heard of it.

Wiki shows it's a hallucigen but doesn't say much aside from technical information.

1. How 'hard' is it? Looks like it's a soft drug along marijuana
2. Is it addictive?
3. How bad is it for your health?
4. What's the trip like? Is it like ecstasy or LCD?

im fairly sure its a brain chemical... and its supposed to be one of the strongest hallucinogens, i doubt many would describe it as "soft".

I haven't personally taken it, but know quite a few people that have, and read extensively on it.

It's a chemical that is released in your body during REM sleep and right before you die. Apparently few people remember details about their trip just minutes after its over, much like a dream.

It's not addictive in the sense that LSD and mushrooms aren't addictive. This would be the last of your worries with a drug like this.

It's definitely not on the lines of marijuana. We're talking about one of the most intense trips of your life. People report going to alternate dimensions, talking to aliens, some serious crazy shit. It should not be taken lightly and it should not be taken recreationally. This is something that should be planned out, a sitter should be present, and you should be in a controlled area with those you trust.

In terms of the actual trip, people report travelling in a "tunnel" to other worlds/dimensions, feeling out-of-body experiences, and literally talking to "entities" in both their own and foreign languages. It literally takes you OUT of this world, and into another, unlike mushrooms or LSD.

I stress, this isn't to be taken lightly. A close friend of mine did a lot of DMT for one summer (consistently) and he isn't the same person...and not in a good way.

That said, I'm sure it's one hell of a time.

I tried it once about 5 years ago and that was enough. So in term of being addictive I would say a resounding hell no. I wouldn't consider it a hard drug. Its effects are brief lasting about an hour compared to LSD or MDMA which can last hours or days even. I know that the brain produces DMT naturally and some theories abound its responsible for the near death experience. As to its being safe all drugs have some risk, I would say in this case being in a good place mentally is a smart move I don't believe there's risk of overdosing. I would say the same precautions with taking LSD apply here.

As for me the experience was like having reality replaced, even when I took LSD I was aware of who I was and where I was, on DMT I wasn't

DMT is the active ingredient found in cough syrups like Robitussin and Delsym. It is considered a hallucinogen just like weed but a good bit has to be ingested.

DMT is the best high that Ive ever had though...makes your mind feel completely stoned like you just smoked a pound of kind bud, your body feels drunk...its hard to describe, but it IS a lot of fun...and depending on how much you take it can make you trip hard core or make you feel relaxed.

It lasts...for me at least...roughly 3 solid hours of feeling the trip full on then about an hour coming down to feeling completely fine...no hangover or anything.

I would say that its a fun drug to do...if you take a shit load you can actually trip and see shit...if you take a 8 oz bottle of Delsym itll just give you a very strong body/mental high...it is fun though, I love it every now and then (maybe once every few months?).

As far as the addiction goes, its not hard at all to drop it...once I do it the next day I dont even think about it...Id say that weed is perhaps more addictive than DMT is. Over all though, Ive got me weed, and it does the job fine :thumbsup:

No, DXM is whats in cough syrup, DMT is a completely different substance.

After reading the little info that is in this thread, of all the drugs I've ever heard about, this sounds like something I'd like to experiment. Sounds like a non-addictive acid trip that doesn't harm your body. Is that assessment correct?

Doug Stanhope, his counterpart, said it was a mind-bending experience. That imagine you are a rat. You take DMT. You then transform into a human, everything that we know, see, experience. Then you turn back into a rat. And how miserable it would be to then know all this but to still be just a rat.

Said it was life-alteringly depressing.

I never did it but a friend of mine when I was younger did it occasionally, he never had much luck. If I remember he had to snort a good amount to have any effect. But that's old second hand info so take it with a grain of salt. If your looking for a short "acid like" trip I would personally recommend Salvia D. Get some 5x or stronger and it should fit the bill.
