Hey guys, my freind is getting a new comp and he is getting a choice of 2 moniters, 1 is a 17" KDS, oh yeah does anybody have the url for KDS's website? #2 Hp 17", and #3 17" Samsung, I told him to get the samsung but he said that the HP was better is this true?

I don't think HP manufactures monitors. They OEM them from someone else and put the HP name on the front. The HP vectras I worked with all used the same monitors as my Dell - good monitors for sure, but not great.

Well, I would *not* suggest the KDS. Reason being my friend has one and after about 1.5 yrs it start to act up. At default refresh 85Hz at 10*7 its producing a "squelling" sound, but when he drops the refresh to 75Hz its just fine. Can/Do the tubes wear out? Anyone know what would be goin on with that? Anyway, just my $.02.

HP doesn't make their monitors. Hell, they don't even make half of the stuff they sell. I should know, I used to work... nevermind. Anyways, you be better off finding out who the OEM is, and getting it directly from them. BTW I use a Samsung 750s, and it's a decent monitor. Not great, but decent. I got it super-cheap, which makes it worth it.

I'd also suggest finding who makes HP or get a better name brand one. If you buy a Compaq or HP, you will pay a LOT more simply for the logo on it. Who in their right mind would buy a $250 15 inch monitor?

I am using the HP Ultra VGA 1280 and the one I have is a Sony, I am extremely happy with it.
