So last night like any usual Monday night me and a friend went to "Dollar game" night and a local bowling alley. Usually more of us come but that didn't stop us from going, we're tryring to get in good practice for an upcoming Fall league anyway.

So we're on our last game of the night (the 9th game, they go by fast when only 2 people bowl) and both as us weren't doing as good as usually (he blames the bud and beer, I blame the seemingly hundreds of ignorant wiggers and 14 year old girls trying to look 20 always walking across our lane to get to theirs). But in the last game my friend was doing good, and told me he wasn't going to get any open frames (a frame without a strike or spare) but lucked out on a 7-10 split in the 8th after just recently getting a turkey strike.

Now the thing about these lanes is that if you hit the gutter just right with enough velocity it makes the ball skip out enough to knock and 7 or 10 pin down, we call it the Boulevard bounce (after the places name Boulevard Lanes). Still, even with the bounce it's a near impossible split pickup so he knew the only way to go at it. He threw a perfect diagonal shot down to the corner of the gutter, the ball looked like it would miss but it just nicked the 10 pin, causing it to "stay up" but still knocking it to the side where it just barely had enough to fall sideways and knock over the damn 7 pin. It was amazing, even the wiggers we're giving him high-5's and complementing on the shot. He ended up with a score of 202, which is good but we're use to getting 200 games by now, just not many had came today (2 for him, 1 for me). So the night ended on an unbelieveable note, next up is to bowl a 300!

Cliffs: My friend picked up a 7-10 split last night, ended up with a 202. :p

he got a 202 from 151? ;)

on a side note, bouncing the ball out of the gutter really does depend on the lane and is usually looked down upon in league bowling. we have a alley around here where you can bounce the ball out of the gutter, not easy though. props and more  for you and your buddy

I <3 bowling.

As hard as the 7-10 split is, there is thousands of them picked up each year. The big four is also extremly hard. At first I was going to post that if it bounces out, it doesn't count, but upon reading the post again, it looks like it was legit, congrats :) I bowled about 13 games myself on friday and have league tonight. We got a ringer tonight though as a sub. He holds the house record of 840.

well if you ask any pro, any ball that hits the gutter is dead. if a ball skips out of the gutter and hits any pins, you must count it as zero and reset the rack.

How hard is it supposed to be to get a strike with no head pin (excuse my terminology, I only bowl to socialize and drink)? My local bowling alley does something every Saturday night where they let people take shots at a 9 pin setup for $5. If you get a strike, you win $100 minimum and sometimes they do a rolling jackpot for it. I have only gone a few times, however I have never seen the 9 pin strike rolled yet...

Well we're basically just amatures here, regardless of what the pro's say. I know thats technically the rule behind it but no way am I gonna let it ruin the ultimate result.
