Wow! I cant believe i my buddy is going to be 24 years older than his little brother/sister.

I think thats a major gap between siblings.

(kinda cool though...his parents have been together for over 25 years...I think its kinda late, but its not my business...more power to them for having a baby so late)

so his dad at 19, was banging a 21 y/o chick.

Great part on the dad.

Its odd though why woudl they try now. you'd think they'd try maybe 10 years ago.

Eh, so they are going through with the baby? Silly, IMO, but I suppose it's their business like you said.

Ummm.. Maybe it was planned? Why do you assume it was a mistake?

Maybe they are seeking some new excitement in their life, and they want to have another child?

Maybe 10 years ago they didnt have the financial freedom to have another child that they do now.

Is 44 REALLY that old to be having a kid? I dont think so.

I don't know exactly what happened. I didn't get into the details...I just said tell your mom congrats over AIM. She was using birth control...so I don't know if the pill messed them up or they've been trying have another kid...

Theyre good people.....Hope everything goes well for them...I read its pretty risky having children so late in life. Lots of complications can occur apparently. Best of luck whatever they plan on doing...

Yeah it kinda is. My aunt tried and tried and didn't get pregnant until 42 or so. She had to go through a bunch of doctor stuff because there are risks that come in when the woman is over 40.

And think about it. 62 when your kid graduates high school?

Almost all of the intelligent kids at my school had parents 55+ when they graduated. All throughout my life I have seen a correlation between older parents and intelligent children.

More wisdom and knowledge in the genes??

So how does your friend feel about his mom being on birth control and his rents getting it on e'ry night?

just tell your friend to inform his mom that she has to have a gene test of the baby to make sure no genetic syndromes have occured since it is much riskier to have a baby at such an age.

The complications are much greater than having a child at a younger age. The mother's old age comes into play with childbirth, and an aged father could cause genetic syndromes.

I doubt it. Probably just a set of more responsible parents, ready to seriously handle all the challenges of rearing a child.

it must be on accident of course but i am suprised they are keeping it. they are WAY too old it isn't fair to the child when he is 10 his dad will be 54! in his teens his dad will be 60! how active of a dad will he have. his parents could be dead when he reaches 20-30 it just sucks. A friend of mine is 25 and his dad is 71. I have known him since HS and he has always hated it his dad is old, can't do much was never active with him growing up, stays home a lot, doesn't fit in with the other dads at gatherings. it is almost like his dad is his grandpa

My really good buddy through college had a brother who was 25 years older then he. He was the youngest of five, the next closest was 7 years older. We ripped into him about being an accident like no other... the best was the day we did the math and his bday was almost exactly 9 months from their anniversary...
