His prebuilt Dell (feel sorry for him) has a Radeon 9250 PCI bus video card. He got Battlefield 2 for Christmas, and it won't run on it, even though he meets the minimum requirements. Knowing dell, they don't put AGP slots into their computers, so is there anything he could do, or is he screwed?

And knowing me, I probabl wouldn't ask this unless I got something out of it, so here's my question: WHat's the primary difference between AGP and PCI?

You can throw crap at me now for sucking at the search function. I just can't... Find anything...

I suck.

This would probably just be a lot easier if you post the dell model number. That way we can look up the specs of the computer and make a recommendation based on that.

The main difference with AGP and standard PCI is the speed they communicate with the motherboard. In this case AGP is faster. Your friend could get a new PCI card, but that leads to a new problem. The only PCI cards I am finding now in a search are ATI 9000 and 9200 series and Nvidia 5200 and 5500 series. The unfortunate thing is that these cards are not going to be much faster than what your friend has now. I know some of them do come with 256MB of memory and that might help a little. The only things I can really suggest are turn the resolution down and turn off some of the eye candy (if you haven't already). Other than that, tell him to trash the Dell (be the best thing he could do...lol) and get something better.
