Does anyone have a link to a story about this? As incredible as the rescue was I would think there might be a story written and I'd like to find out more about this man.

as far as i know, it happened just yesterday. it was overseas. at the funeral there may be some reporters. i agree it is an incredible story. if it gets picked up by the media and i see anything on it i will definitely post it.

i left out all the names etc, out of respect for the privacy of the family. if it does become public news i will then link anything here.

hope you understand.

well, he was definitely a hero, saving the lives of 6 others while sacrificing his own. My prayers out to you, his family, and anybody else that this tragedy affects.

He was a youth pastor? Does that mean a Christian Youth Pastor?? May be a little more comforting if so.

I can not say anything that will alleviate the strong emotions.
This world has indeed lost a good person.

wow. very sad. glad he was able to save the kids though. I always hear horror stories about these trips. like kids scuba diving and getting their guts blown up.

I cant quite believe how some of us here have managed to degrade this thread to petty infighting about trivial issues especially when we are discussing about the supreme sacrifice made by 1 man for what he believed was the right thing to do.
My condolences goes out to him

quick note: thank you to the mods for cleaning up this discussion.

Johann,

My prayers are with everyone who knew your friend. Nothing is more noble than to save a life even if it means sacrificing your own. It is of course always okay to think of your friend and cry, but even better is to think of your friend and your memories of him, and smile. :)

All of us here will do whatever we can to help,
Darin
