my friday has sucked so far

Wake up to find my 200GB hard drive died. lost oodles of things. only have backups from about a month ago. I've isolated it to my POS Abit mobo, need to get a new one after work.

NY State tax refund is delayed until after 4/1. Poor even before buying that new mobo.

Come into work and have a voicemail from the Army comp. crime division. I have an IP attacking them somehow...

arghhh.... 5pm, where are you.

Woke up yesterday morning at 6am by a phone call from my boss. Apparently my server was beeping loudly. Turned out the RAID array was degraded and can probably be rebuilt, but the hard drives used in the array are discontinued so I have to track one down.

Today is supposed to be Good Friday.

Actually, today is the best Friday I've had for a few weeks. The one four weeks ago wasn't so good, that was when they found I had a brain tumour and booked me in for surgery to remove it - done on the following Monday. The next Friday was OK, I got to go home but after that Fridays have pretty much gone downhill - first being told the histology results that what I had was very aggressive and is going to need a big hit with radiotherapy. Last Friday was probably the worst, being told by the Oncologist that more or less whatever treatment they give me, their best estimate gives me 3-5 years to live. All in all, it's been a depressing few weeks, being told that at 42 years old with a three year old son. Still, got to stay positive and enjoy the good stuff at the moment, not worry about things that may or if I have any say in it, may not happen in the end.

 

My day is going great.

Mine's been great. I'm off of work, I got my tires rotated, changed my oil, I'm getting ready to wash and wax my car, and then i'm gonna chill and play some video games.
