My frickin' luck...

I haven't seen a game worth buying for the PSP in about a year, and I see final fantasy tactics is out for it. So, I end up buying it, finding my PSP, finding the charger, plugging it in, etc.

Turns out my PSP is at version 3.03 and the game needs 3.51 to be applied before it can start. In fact, I tried to do the network update and 3.72 is out, so I try to upgrade to that version... but it says the battery isn't charged enough...

*one hour later*

battery still isn't charged enough? hrm....

DAMMIT!

so, anyone wanna sell me a WORKING PSP battery for under $30? Or buy final fantasy tactics for the PSP for $50? 🙂

Nope, it tells you the battery life isn't high enough. My assumption is, it requires a certain percentage of battery life before it will attempt the update, because on the rare occurance of a power outage it could brick the PSP.

But if you're updating your PS3, xbox360, or any other plug-in console and get a power outage, you also get bricked.😕

Seems unnecessary to me. I suppose it's to save the idiots who start updating, then unplug and assume the battery will take care of the rest, but if you have half an ounce of sense you will NOT change anything about your config in the middle of an update.

ok what the frickin' hell? within the last 40 minutes the battery decided to go from 0% to 100%... i dunno if i trust this thing, then again, it's been off for 8 months or so...

There's some complex chemistry in those batts that can indeed go dormant if left alone for a while. I don't think it's dead, but I'll bet you it'll take a few recharge cycles before it's back in working order where it was before you stopped playing.
