My foil electric razor shaves closer than rotary. Normal?

i would have thought that rotary would shave closer since it has 3 heads. But my $5 foil head shaver from walmart is shaving closer than my Norecco ReflexPlus6.

Does the Norrecco ReflexPlus6 just plain suck?

If you've tried both types, which type is the closer shave for you?

Foil razors have always given me a closer shave than a rotary. Not to mention the fact that I am far more likely to miss areas with a rotary.

Frankly, my Norelco rotary shaver sucks ass. Worst purchase I ever made. It's impossible to get a close shave with it without irritating my skin to the point it hurts to touch for several hours. I also agree with Codewiz...it's awfully easy to miss areas with it. Assuming my Norelco is fairly representative of rotary shavers in general, I don't see how anybody could be happy with a rotary.

I've been afraid to shell out money for another electric model. You said you bought one for $5 at Walmart??

yup, they had a no name brand foil for $5 last year, including batteries (non-rechargable).

they dont have it any more, at least in my area (North Virginia).

time for me to try an expensive foil shaver and compare that to my $5 one.

i hate to say i, but a year ago or so i got this horrible expensive Norelco rotary for a present...and it totally irritates my skin. And i really do not have special sensitive skin. foil-razor does it for me fine.

I have the cheapest Braun foild razon. i dont remember the exact model but it was something like 65$ Canadian with taxes so prolly arround 50 before taxes. Works great the only problem is the power cord and thats my fault for being so cheap and not getting the battery powered one.

I haven't tried a foil shaver before, but getting a close shave isn't the problem, I frequently miss hairs with my Norelco

Foil shavers generally do better, as long as you keep up with new foils and blades when the old ones get dull. My problem was keeping it clean, and having hairs yanked out by the blades when they got too dull to actually cut.

i had my previous foil (Braun) for 5 years before it wont stay on unless I pressed the ON button tight. i never changed the foil or the blade. i never noticed a diff from the 1st day i bought it.

I just tossed mine, it was an older Norelco or something, got it in my teens when I started shaving, I'm 24 now...the batteries no longer charged, I haven't really used it a lot lately.
