my first try, What can I expect?

Im finally going to try to oc my comp.
I have no idea how to do it.
My system is getting a little old and I want to keep it for another 6 months

Which guide should I use?, ( need a guide for oc dumb dumb's)

How much improvement can I expect? (what % improvements have others seen with my spec parts)?

Any extra tips that I should watch out for?

my spec's:
EVGA 680I mobo
Intel X6800 extreme core 2 cpu
2x XFX 8800 gts 512 meg gpu's in SLI
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) (with cooling fan)
Western Digital Raptor 150 gig hard drive
PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W EPS12V SLI NVIDIA SLI Certified
Coolermaster Aquagate mini r80 cpu water cooler

I ordered a new case, COOLER MASTER NV 690 NV-690C
It will be here soon, my current case is worthless for airflow

You should probably read graysky's sticky. I'm going to say you can reasonanly hit somewhere in the range of 3.5-3.8ghz with the x6800.

go into your bios and change your X6800's multiplier (CPU clock Multiplier). 11 to 13 would give you a 3.7ghz processor. Watch your temps & it's going to take more CPU voltage 🙂

Your 8800gts 512's can be overclocked to their limits (temps / game crashes). you can use a memory divider and vdimm control in bios to make your memory run at around ~550mhz and/or get better timings.

If you don't understand this stuff - read a guide or two to get the OC'ing basics down.
