I am not planning to go to the court for this because it means I will have to fly from LA to DC just to contest a speeding ticket, just not worth the hussle. The question that I have is that will it still show a point on my driving record since I got the ticket out-of-state? If so, which state of online traffic school should I take to take the point off? CA or DC?

how much over was the speeding ticket for. I believe some states won't send tickets for a certain amount over, either less than 10 MPH over or less than 15 MPH over to other states,

Got this from some car insurance site:

"Most states have reciprocal arrangements and provide ticket information to the driver's home state. Some states are members of the driver?s license agreement (DLA) which means they share information between their motor vehicle departments. Members of this agreement have different rules to what they transfer over and if points are accessed, etc...The only way an insurer will recognize an out of state ticket is if the state is in a state that shares information with the resident state. If they are, then the state where the offense occurs will notify the license state. If not, then your license state will not have this on the record."

I know in my state out of state tickets for moving violations and such do not go on your record, however, I'm not sure about yours. Most DMV websites have an FAQ section. I would either search that or google "out of state ticket California"

Like RedArmy posted, most states report tickets to most other states, even if they don't have a specific agreement in place. I remember reading something about California in this regard, but don't quite recall what it said, sorry.

From nolo.com:

http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/pg/2/ob...B69-4EED-A34B6F4035C8BE0E/104/263/FAQ/
"If I get a ticket in another state, will it affect my driver's license?

Forty-eight states belong either to an agreement called the "Driver's License Compact" or the "Non-Resident Violator Compact." (The only states that don't belong to one or the other are Michigan and Wisconsin.) When you get a ticket in one of these states, the department of motor vehicles will relay the information to your state -- and the violation will affect your driving record as if the ticket had been given at home."

You have to take the driving school through the county in which you received the ticket. Last time I got a ticket I took the online school through the county I received the ticket in, and I live in CA.
