My first soldering injury... stupidity rears its ugly head

Note to self: When you have both a Soldering Iron and a Desoldering Iron sitting next to each other, double check which one you just plugged in.

Thought I plugged in the Soldering Iron when I accidentally plugged in the Desoldering Iron. It slid off the stand and i grabbed it with my fingers. Uhm, ouch. yea, that hurt, bad.

I once picked up a blob of solder that had been sitting on a piece of cement board for a few minutes, thinking it was completely cool. Turns out it had a nice juicy molten core and the damn thing stuck to my thumb. Jesus that hurt.

My buddy was using my soldering iron to remove a wire off a motor. (R/C car)
The wire had some tension so when the solder melted, it flung up, shooting a piece of hot molten lead right into his eye.
That was truly painful to watch...

I've burned myself a few times with the soldering iron. Its not that bad at all. I think it burned the nerves off or something.

I'm pretty sure I've burned the nerves off the end of a few fingers too.

I did burn some part of my hand when I was soldering last, although I now cant remember If it was a finger or what. It hurt though, ill say that.

Wait until you're soldering something like this together and you accidentally burn through the insulation of a wire while soldering something else.

I recommend painting the plug or using colored tape near the plug to remind yourself which is which in case you have a slight rat's nest at your work station.

Also, it's one of those situations where you wish you had a Irons with little lights to show that they are on, huh?

Why not? Making a snow angel 100% naked is like a free eightball in highness. And if you get caught doing either you'll most likely be riding in a poleeeece car!
