I have been riding a GT Diamondback mountain bike for leisure/exercise on the bike trail along the rivers for the last 6yrs. I'd prefer mtn bike for extra effort per distance, my theory on cardio workouts. But curiosity about road bikes led me to this entry level Shimano 2200. Yeah, it's from BikesDirect.com. What do y'all pro riders think?

30+ miles of bike trails in my city along the 2 rivers.
 
I wish I had those kind of 'trails' around here.

I am sure that bike will be fine for you but I bet if you stick with it in a year or two you'll want to upgrade.
