My first problem on eBay...

I quit Diablo 2, so I sold my account on eBay. I've sold lots of D2 stuff on eBay without problems before, but this time the winner not only gives me the wrong e-mail address (apparently he was using his sister's PayPal account), but I also get this message from him once we get all that sorted out:

I was under the impression that this was a hardcore account and when i got into it, the account was normal nonladder uswest... i do not play normal nonladder uswest what can you do about this????

I told him it didn't say it was hardcore anywhere, and it clearly said it was non-ladder and USWest. He says:

i was forwarded to your item as a result of a search for "diablo 2 hardcore items" your item showed up and naturaly i thought it was a hardcore account i bid on it and find out later that it is not...

I told him the word "hardcore" doesn't appear anywhere in my account (since it doesn't), and I can't get my item to show up by searching completed items with the same phrase. He says:

fvck that dude I Know What I Searched for i was specific on that i know that for a factso dont try fo feed me some bullsh!t from prior searches i pulled the search up multiple times and clicked on the same item every time to check on my bidding status and i copied and pasted the same thing ever time!!!!!!!!!!!

I respond:

Maybe you should take it up with eBay then and try to convince them that their search is giving you bogus results, because the same thing doesn't happen for me. Regardless of how you found my item, it doesn't say that it's hardcore anywhere so you can't just assume it is. If this is really going to be a problem, I'll refund your money minus my eBay and PayPal fees if you (a) change the account's e-mail address back to mine and (b) leave positive feedback.

And I haven't heard back. Is there a better way I should be handling this? I would really like to keep my perfect feedback rating, and I don't think reselling would be a big deal.
 
he should have read the whole auction, the sale is binding whether or not he bought what he thought he was buying as long as you sold him/her what you said you would in the auction and/or other communications before the auctions ending. the fact that he didn't read the auction is not your fault and technically you don't have to refund him anything. I'd send it to e-bays dispute department.
 
Looks like he's going to take it. Maybe I shouldn't have offerred to refund, but I did, so I might as well stick with it.
 
stop being a feedback pussy. if some idiot gives you a negative, so what. he deserves no refund and no further response from you, especially after cursing at you like that.

He apologized and thanked me for the offer. Besides, I don't see how I'm doing any harm to myself by giving him a refund and relisting. Just blowing it all off from the get go would've saved me some stress, but everything's worked out now. There's no point in being a jerk just to save myself a few seconds of my time.

You don't always have to immediately turn a-hole on someone when they get angry. Don't stoop to the other other person's level.
 
Can I use second chance offer in this situation? I actually had someone else who bid the exact same amount as the winning bidder (not sure how that works, but whatever). What duration is best to use for 2nd chance offers?
