long time windows user (most recently xp) but i gotta say i like redhat 7,2 so far. getting kernel updates, but is there a way to make the text on everything not so blocky/faded?

Text in X blocky? I had same problem, got fonts looking more "normal" after over-installing X (downloaded binaries from XFree86 homepage). Adding some fonts from RH 7.2 RPM's might also help.

i have both of the RH SRPM cds, but i cannot figure out how to install them, the directions on the RH site don't seem to apply to my Gnome desktop...also, my "hardware browser" opens up for a second when i click it, but closes as soon as it opens, even when i log in as root...any patience for a n00b?
