Hi all, I have been researching Laptops and just get more confused the more i do. I would like to stay under $1000 and want something that is 15 screen or more that is easy on the eyes my eye sight is not the best. No games mostly study software that is mem and hard drive hungry. Any Ideas on best bang for my buck?? I was looking at the Acer 3624 Acer Not sure if this would work. I was thinking about buying a cheap one like this Acer and adding Hard drive and Memory upgrades myself?

Probably a Dell e1505 (15.4"). You can get one with lots of ram and hard disk (1GB / 80GB maybe) for ~$700 or less if you catch the right sale.

Lenovo T60 🙂 Right now you can get a one for around $1000 after rebate which is a steal when you consider the incredible build quality.

Thanks, that Lenovo is $1200 T60 , I want a 7200 Rpm Hard drive and most that offer that are well over $1000

Have you considered an Intel based Mac notebook, called the MacBook? The value proposition is just amazing. You can legally run both Windows and OS X on a single computer.

I just got mine today and I love it. I haven't installed Windows on it yet and I'm not sure if I will or not, so far I kind of like Tiger.
