My first NIC card try in win98se now bootup errors???

HI,
I was given a matched pair of 3dcom ethernetIII isa networking cards..Upon installing one win 98se cdrom gave it a driver and no conflicts seen in device manager. On reboot I got an error message regarding either my sys ini or registry was missing something and named
vredir.vxd
dfs.vxd
also when it went into windows a windows networking box can up saying msnp32.dll is unable to load. I installed a backup of my registry....no luck.
Any help with this would be appreciated since I would like to try to network my 2 computers,

ISA NIC adapters' I/O and IRQ are configured by jumpers or a DOS configuration utility (some also have a PNP option that often doesn't work). For the NIC to work, Win98 must use those same settings, which it often does't do because it has no way of detecting what they are. So, you've got to get them matched them up.

I went into device manager and everything looked ok incl the resource tab that said no conflicts. Also during the NIC's install by win98se it mentioned PNP and the model # of the nic....I checked under networking (somewhere) and seen the NIC PNP listed with my TCIP protocol etc.....Must I also add NetBEIU protocol? To get rid of the error messages at bootup I was considering removing the NIC and delete the added protols and start over and reinstalling windows to fix the MSNp32.dll not being able to load at bootup.
MY windows manual does a poor job of detailed info in regards to networking....Time to pick up a better book!!

I would suggest removing the cards in Network and start over again. Try to find the software to configure the cards. These are probably software configured like was said above so Windows is not using the correct IRQ or DMA settings as was configured on the card. Check 3Coms site for support on that specific card. That should do it.

I went to 3d-com and grabed the drivers for the NIC and will give it shot. I will look at the irq settings also, the card may not be configured properly
