I really like the game. I only heard abou this week, but after watching the promo video, I had to get it.

First off, the graphics are a little weak. The character textures are low reesolution, sort of like GTA:SA (although not quite that bad). The outdoor enviorment is fine, but no where near the detail of FarCry.

The audio however is fantastic. Surround sound is well done, and the Character voiceovers are excellent, really helping set the story of the game.

As for the actual gameplay, it's great. This is the first western style game I've ever played, and I must say riding a horse and trampling people, or shotting while riding is an absolute blast. There are plenty of side missions you can do to add to the game, or you can skip them and just go straight thru with the story.

I'm still early into the game, but I'm already hooked. If you are looking for a different kind of FPS story, this one is for you.

thanks man!!

i never heard of this game before. just watched a preview and it looks really fun.

as i was watching i kept thinking "why haven't more developers tried their hand at this era?" it really has it all- lawlessness, ho's, explosives, money and general mayhem :)

how open/interactive is the enviornment and hows the AI?

i watched a special about htis game on g4 the other day. looked cool, but i haven't been too impressed with single player games lately.

i bought a ps2 a few months ago and got several games. i haven't touched it in about a month.

i bought fable, ffx, metal gear solid 3, ratchet and clank: up your arsenal, splinter cell: chaos theory, and something else. i just can't bring myself to play them.

what i really want is another good mmorpg to play. can't wait for Age of Conan!

Well, it kinds of reminds me of GTA:SA in game play, with all the cinematic videos, lawless story line, and side missions that are optional.

But, the story line is obviously completely different, and the fact thati's an Old West style FPS really grabs me.

The open enviorment is pretty nice. Any horse can be stolen for a ride (just like vehicles in GTA), and you can speak with certain characters in the game to give you info.

I've been playing it for the Xbox and posted my first impressions on my forums.

I dont think I've ever played a game that has nailed the Old West style as well as this has. The audio, scenery, environments... just great. I didnt play for all that long but I got through the training mishs with ease. Shooting in 3rd person is relatively simple although it's not the best. They've got their own version of bullet time in here (WHY DO ALL GAMES NEED THAT?) called Quickdraw mode. In it, you zoom in on your 6 shooter, everything slows down and you can plug guys easily. The voice acting kicks ass and the story so far is pretty good.

Ever since Zelda:eek:oT, I've loved the ability to ride (and control) a horse in games. So few games try it and unless it's on rails (*ahemdarkwatch*) it's just a joy. This game is no different. It's very cool and controls fluidly although I would have liked to have been thrown from the horse when I hit the jump button at the wrong time and ran into a downed tree.

A couple qualms though. I kinda wish the main character had less of an Indian look and more of a cowboy look. Maybe he updates his look later on? Also, there seems to be too much gore. I dont think I've ever seen a western where a headshot with a rifle can take someone's head clean off. Also, since when can you take a horse, have him run full speed into a buffalo and kill it?
