My first ever build, input welcome

I tried my best to do the build myself but I'd really appreciate other opinions before I spend that much money. Although I read a lot on the current technology, I've never built a PC before. Here we go.

Usage: workstation (programming), some smooth, enjoyable, modern gaming
Budget: Current pick is around 1700$, I'd rather not increase the cost any more
When: in a month or two
Other: no software, no peripherals, I don't care about any discounts, rebates or any of that stuff. Also not buying used. I think the case, SSD and the the monitor are a lock, trying to stick to a white(ish) theme. Perhaps some mild overclocking, nothing crazy.

I'd change the PSU to EVGA 650 G2 $100. 7 yr warranty, Gold efficient, modular. The EVGA 750 B1 (built by FSP) you picked is probably not bad but I can't find any review of it to confirm how it performs compared to the Super Flower built and Seasonic built G2 and GS units.

As for the video card... Well, R9 390 is barely enough for that resolution on high settings. Ideally you'd want a Fury, but that's outside the budget. I would probably spend a little less and settle for a 1080p 144hz monitor with a GTX 970. Then upgrade to 1440p FreeSync/G-Sync when you have enough budget for an optimal GPU. But do what you want, if you value 1440p that much then MG279Q with R9 390 is probably the way to go, unless you want to save a bit on the GPU and grab a similarly performing R9 290X or R9 290.

If you are going to go the AMD route, you might as well complete your black/white theme with an XFX card which also comes with lifetime warranty.

Also, Pure Rock is a bit better cooler than Hyper 212 EVO. Here's are some good black/white options: Cryorig H7 $35, HR-02 Macho Rev. B $53, Phanteks TC14S $50.

Everything else looks nice.

I've looked at 390 benchmarks at 1440p a lot and it seems I should be able to hit the FreeSync window on very high or even ultra in most games. I am probably buying the monitor for at least 5 years, GPU not that much, so I don't want to be stuck on 1080p for that long.
Is XFX lifetime warranty an international thing or USA only (Europe here)?

Any other, maybe cheaper PSU recommendations? It seems that the case has the PSU completely separated so I might not even need modularity, just leave the cables in that compartment.

Thanks for the post.
