my first creditcard application got denied

lol, 0wn3d

Try for a different credit card. How much does your job pay (hourly) now? You could always apply for a Discover student card, I got that with zilch credit whatsoever. Seems they'll take anybody really

Just lie on the application! Say you make $1,000,000 a year and have worked at your job for 20 years and lived at your current house for 25 years. That way you get a quadruple diamond bling bling card with a $1,000,000,000 limit!

What kind of advice are you giving this poor soul? Never take out a dept store credit card. Interest rates are way too high on those. I would suggest taking out a credit card that acts like a debit card. YOu can only use it if you have money in the bank. You don't want to get sucked into credit cards when you're a student. They heavily target students. Be happy you don't have debt! Remember, if you use a credit card, then usually it means you don't have the money, which means you shouldn't buy the item.

j/k, try a gas card or dept store card. My first one was Sears, then I was able to quickly get a Discover Card. And just pay the thing off monthly and you don't have to worry about the interest rate.

Hrm, guess I should explain to you.

Department store cards are free, they dont cost anything, you dont have to secure them, and they give them to you almost not matter what, just with like 100 limit...

He buys a pair of socks at the store, pays off card, cancels it... he now has credit.... he can now get a starter card or student card

my cousin got a card from TD bank in Canada with no credit or anything... but with a 500 dollar limit, it was a special card for students, maybe you could try to get something like that

Where is RossMAN when you need him...

Anyways, you can always go the secured credit card route. Major banks issue these.

Which company did you go through? I hear that a Capital One card is one of the easier CC's to get.
