My first camera - The Canon XS Rebel/1000D for Astophotography. -- Thoughts?

I'm going to be making my first ever camera purchase this week. I'm a complete photography neophyte but after some research I've decided upon the Canon Rebel XS/(1000D in Europe)

I'll be using this in conjunction with a Celestron C8 reflector for Astrophotography. Will also be controlling the setup with my home computer.

I'd like to hear thoughts on this camera and what I plan on doing with it from others more knowledgeable in this field.

Any ideas/tips/suggestions/critiques/rebukes will be appreciated or considered.

Used EOS 20Da ?

Just wondering because that was made for astrophotography

Wow I'm already glad I posted this thread. I didn't even know that camera existed. My biggest concern with the Rebel sofar is the idea of removing the IR filter. The fact that it's a modestly complex task/mod is bad enough for a neophyte but then you have color problems with terrestrial photos to boot.

I will do some research into the EOS 20Da.

Thank you.

Looks like the EOS 20Da was discontinued. Also seems hard to find. None on ebay or amazon. Was replaced with the 30D.
