Heres where I'm at so far:

Mobo: ASUS A8N-E
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice
Video Card: MSI Geforce 6600GT 128MB
RAM: CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB)
Case: Antec PERFORMANCE TX1088AMG
Hard Drive: Western Digital Raptor WD740GD
Mouse/Keyboard: Logitech Cordless Desktop MX3100 2-Tone Wireless Keyboard
Sound Card: CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS

I'm gonna be doing light gaming, some programming, web surfing and movie/tv watching. I don't have a bottomless wallet but am looking for quality parts that will last me for a bit. No overclocking in the near future.

Thanks for your input!

looks good...whats your PSU??

i would recomend a 420w OCZ modstream for that system....unless the case has an included one

Apperently the case have an Antec 480W Tru-power 2.0, so that's fine.

 for rig. If you're not going to overclock you could save some money and buy value ram from any of the good ram makers. Corsair, OCZ, Kingston etc.

You could also save some money going for a 7200rpm HDD instead of the raptor.

i dont know much about that mobo, but i would suggest getting an nf4 mobo, probably msi. i think that just has a k8t800 chipset. you at least want the k8t800 pro.

Agreed. If you don't want to just keep the money saved, I think you'd be best off spending it on a better videocard (X800XL or 6800gt)

It's a great build, however there is no reason to go with the XMS C2 ram over the value select, the price difference is over $50 and the performance difference is totally neglible. Most of that is just paying for heatspreaders anyway.

That is unless it's the XMS LL Pro you are looking at.

The A8n-e is an nF4 Ultra chipset, the K8n-e is the Via chipset.

Confusing, I know.
