I'm going to try to build my new computer by myself as opposed to buying it pre-built.

Here's what I've got configured:

-Enermax, FS-710B. BLACK, 10-Bay, Enermax 330W P-4 PS, Server Tower Case (says P4 power supply... does that mean it can't work with AMD systems? And is 330W enough?)

-Lite On 32x12x40 CDRW

-MITSUMI D359M3 FDD 1.44MB 3.5INCH

-MAXTOR Quiet Drive 60GB

-OCZ DDR RAM 512MB 64X64 PC-3000 366Hz (will PC3000 work with the KT333 mobo? Should I go with Crucial 2100 instead?)

-EPOX 8K3A+ KT333CE DDR333 266MHz FSB ATA133 RAID Socket A MOTHERBOARD - RETAIL

-AMD ATHLON XP 1900+/266 FSB PROCESSOR CPU - RETAIL (the stock HSF is good enough for me since I won't be overclocking it)

-CREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY WITH 1394 - OEM

-Logitech's THX certified Z560 4.1 surround sound system

-VGA PNY GEFORCE4 TI4400 128MB VGA, DVI-OUT & TV-OUT. RETAIL BOX (no need to pay the extra 100 bucks for an extra 5-10 frames with the TI4600)

-NEC 17" monitor

-Windows '98 (already have this, I'll get Windows XP when more games support it...)

Now, from what I understand, I just do the following to build the PC:

1.) Ground myself
2.) Pop the CPU, RAM, Video Card, and sound card into the Mobo
3.) Mount the mobo into the case
4.) Toss in the floppy, cdrw, and hdd
5.) Connect the internal cables to the proper places (this is what always confuses me... knowing where all the internal cables go)
6.) Turn it on
7.) Use a windows 98 boot disk to load cd rom drivers and install the OS (should I format the new HDD before installing windows on it, or is it already pre-formatted fromt the factory?)

Thanks guys!

take your time do not get in a hurry and read the manual especially the mobo manual for the settings etc

start with the basics: video, 1 stick of ram, processor, heatsink see it it posts do not continue until it does

read up on artic silver/thermal pad and make your choice

if in doubt stop and post here and wait for replies

don't be nervous but be well read on the necessary steps

hope this helps;)

You should be fine. Slap everything together and hope for the best. Also, remember to only install 1 card at a time to avoid confusion.
