hi all
thanks for looking.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions/criticism for my first build. This pc will be used as an ftp server/show downloader/show burner (bands who allow taping like dmb). Anyway have any thoughts. this is my first build. not looking to spend a lot of cash. for the parts that will be coming from my dead dell 4100 I may end up replacing them. we shall see. unlikely to OC as I havent before. :) thanks for looking

Your motherboard, CPU and video card costs $190. I wouldn't go that route.

You can get an Athlon 64 Socket 939 and an MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard with an on-board Radeon 9600LE video for only $40 more, and you can even add a PCIExpress video card later on. MUCH better deal.

is that a set bundle or priced altogether separately?

etree archive

build a cheap server for 100$ mobo, cpu, vid, and 50$ 512mb ram. get stuff thats a few years old and use the computer just for serving and trading. 2.2ghz with onboard mx400 would do fine. then build a second one like wisdomtooth is talkin, with upgradability, for your other stuff. thats what i'd do

I priced that separately at Newegg.

How many PCI slots will you be needing? Unless you will be adding a lot of legacy stuff (which you might not need to considering how much stuff is built onto the mobo already), 3 PCI slots should be OK.
