I am trying to keep the price down/ but the performance up...obviously... and i'm not sure if this will all fit together

so here is what i got so far, i decided to go with a Micro ATX PC 🙂

Case + PSU

Motherboard

Harddrive

Video Card

Processor

with everything posted the cost with SnH is $840. i already have an OS,keyboard and mouse, headset and monitor.

i'm open to suggestions

I've only reviewed a few of your component choices, but I feel that you are skimping on the power supply. You may or may not get some use out of the one that comes with the case, but I would rather see you get a better rated one that you wouldn't regret 🙂

i'm already past my budget 😛

I can understand that. But I honestly would not spend half this amount on components without budgeting for a quality power supply. The consequences of a bad power supply can vary from annoyance and down time, to frying other costly hardware. Do not skimp on the power supply! I shall say no more 🙂

the Motherboard you picked is a 754 socket
the CPU is a 939 socket
they wont work together
here are some in that price range

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCo...3131571,N82E16813128315&SubCategory=22

get a MB that has a 939 socket and up the cpu to a AMD 64 3500+ its $50 more but well worth it
save some money on the Hard drive you can always upgrade that later, spend it on the bigger CPU

Video and memory look good
the advice from Frodolives on the PSU is dead on
a poor PSU will cause unbelivable grief and frustration

Ditto!! You can save more than enough money to pay for a decent power supply by dumping that WD raptor drive for a more affordable solution. You can get a 250 GB SATA drive for $100. I like your graphics card selection, the aftermarket HSF my not really be necessary. Usually the stock HSF that come with the AMD 64 will do fine if you do not overclock.

I agree. Ditch the raptor, while it's blazing fast you'll probably be happier with a slightly slower, much larger drive anyways. You don't need the aftermarket cooler really, the stock ones are pretty good right now. Raptors in my opinion are great but aren't worth the extra price. I have other stuff I could spend that money on.

Ditto on the 939 & HSF. You don't need thermal paste for a retail cpu. BTW, what are you planning on doing with this computer? Basic surfing, gaming, work, etc? And like everyone else said, find a way to get more money for a decent power supply. You should be able to find a good one for around $50-70.
