My first bank account

Ok so I am 16, have about 350$ stashed, and am getting a job, I would like a bank account. So I need a bank that A)Provides low monthly payments, B) Has like a 50 or 100$ minimum balance C) Has no ATM fees D) Lets you write unlimited checks(aka checking account). I would prefer an offline account as then I can use those ATM's and not have to pay that banks fees. I would also like a bank that allows for those under 18 to get an account(with parent guardianship or whatever). Please advise, thanks 🙂

Why don't you shoot out a list of banks in your area since you want ATM access without fees? I'd bet some of those banks' customers can give you an idea of what to expect.

If you're a full time student, some banks will provide you with a free checking account; that's how it is around here anyways. I have a free checking account with no minimum balance, online account management, Visa debit card, ex.. Without the Visa, I wouldn't be able to survive. It works online, at the gas station, anywhere.

Sorry, none of those in my neck of the woods so I couldn't tell you jack. 🙁 But more than likely, you'll probably be looking at some kind of student account which basically has those features you want. I don't know about the check writing and the minimum balance *might* be a little higher (~$300?), but otherwise, most banks should have some kind of starter account.

I use USBank. I have no monthly payments, no minimum balance, no ATM fees for USBank ATMs (not a problem, because they're common), unlimited amount of checks (but I just use my checkcard for everything), and online banking. It's a joint checking account with my mom, because I'm 16, but my name is the only one on the checks.
