My first attempt to overclock

Tried to overclock my P4 2600C and a 512 stick of PC3200 RAM.
Edit: I also have a DFI LANParty 865PE board.
I knew I'd have to set a divider.
There are only a couple ram settings.
Auto
400
320
266

I tried 320, and I would get no post after a reboot at stock FSB. I might get a post at a random time, but other than that, very upredictable.
During one of the random POSTs I changed the divider to 266, and that wouldn't post either at the stock FSB.

I'm not sure where to take it from here. Any suggestions?

have you tried just upping the RAM/FSB? My PC3200 for my work P4 2.8 goes up to 238Mhz with no dividers.

I hear dividers on the P4 are a shot and miss thing. Some mobos it work great and some it doesn't.

Yeah, I can pull about a 200-300 MHz overclock, but that's it.

Voltage boost time. 😉

With or without a divider?

my system does that too (its an amd, but whatever). sometimes it just doesnt want to set the divider. try the 266 divider. then, if that doesnt work, its bios update time! and if yu have the latest, just flash it again.

Hate to say it but as a whole 2.6C were the worst overclocking Northwoods. I really wouldnt expect much over 3.5 without a great deal of voltage

I'll be happy with 3.2-3.3 GHz
