Here is my final build specs for my new computer. IF anything screams out "no" please tell me. Also. I am still on the verge about 4870x2. I'm not sure I need it/it's worth it. I plan to CF in the future. So I would end up with 2 4870's anyway. And I've seen not much performance gain in benchmarks with 4870x2 X2. So I'm not sure about the Graphics Cards yet... everything else is pretty much finalized. I
I won't be using a 30inch monitor. I was thinking 24-28 with 1900x1200 native resolution.
I will be doing some gaming, but mostly using it for just about everything.
I will be learning to overclock with this rig, That's why i chose the Rampage Formula.

Thanks in advance.

Antec 900 PURCHASED
Corsair 750TX
ASUS Rampage Formula x48
QX6850 - PURCHASED
Diamond 4870 XOC (I MAY be able to afford 4870x2, but I don't feel I need it)
OCZ Reaper HTC DDR2-800 2x2GB. PURCHASED (Should I get another pair to make 8 GB Total)
Xigmatek HDT-S1283
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
EDIT: Western Digital Caviar SE16 x2
I'm so eager, hopefully you will respond before I put all this on my credit card!

Well, we could tell you that your wasting your money...but I anticipate you know that with how bleeding edge you are going along with the 1337 factor on the RAM.

Actually I bought the RAM when the rebate was good. Came out to $65 for 2x2GB not too shabby IMO.
The only thing IMO that i may be wasting $$ on is the MOBO, and I have given this piece more thought than any other piece in my system. and I just decided that I want it, and i cant convince myself to go with any of the gigabyte versions of the P5E-Deluxe.
The QX6850 i got for under 300 new in box so... yeah

Where else do you think I'm wasting money? <--Serious question..
Any insights for the HDD? Those are the things I gave least ammount of research time to.

Vista Ultimate is a waste of money for most people, the 900 is a bit expensive...but that's up to you. Hopefully you don't plan on doing RAID 0 that would be a waste of money. The overclocked version of that videocard is a waste of money unless its cheaper or the same price.

Good to hear that you got a good deal on the RAM and the processor. You did very well.

For your hard drive question just get the 640GB WD hard drives which it appears that you are doing. They combine storage with speed.

900 I already purchased, Got it for about 90 bucks cause I work at bestbuy and got it on employee discount.

I plan on doing Raid 1. Do you still think it's a waste?

I wanted RAM that I'd simply never have to upgrade. That was my thoughts there..

Think I should get a total of 8 GB for Vista?
Ultimate is expensive..makes me sad..

It is very close to same price. It also comes with free GRID on tigerdirect. I think I'd play that more than once.. sooooooooooooooooo yeah

Good deal on the case.

I personally really like Raid 1 if you have important data to backup or are lazy and don't want to manually backup your own important data. You won't hear any complaints from me about Raid 1.

As I stated you got a good deal on the ram. However, 8GB is a huge waste, even if it is cheap.

What is "close" to the same price between home premium and vista...last I remember it was at least $60 between OEM versions.

I think your list looks good. 4GB of ram should be plenty

The only thing on your list thats over-the-top is the rampage formula. I'd have a hard time buying any x48 mobo if I wasn't going to crossfire it out of the gate. It is definitely a cool looking board, so if you really want it (it is your money) buy it.

Do you really need Vista Ultimate?

Overall, I think its going to be a great build - Good Luck

Sorry.. When i said "close to same price" I had switched to your other point about the GFX card. 4870 XOC on Tigerdirect is like 295 with free GRID.

Although it was hard to find. I identified it by the picture w/ skulls, and clock speeds. the same thing on newegg is 309.99 with 20 mail in rebate (no game)..

heres link to wishlist if anyone else wants to get in on this action. Let me know if link doesnt work

Ok
I want it.. really >:) I will crossfire as soon as it's economically plausible (when i have money)

No. Yes. >:) I will try to justify it by saying that I work in computer related field, and I need to know a little bit about the business end of vista in order to help diagnose problems, and better my colleagues. But if your BS detector was on, it would be going nuts!
