I'm surprised no one guessed it before now. Both of us have mentioned that we have a Explorer and Mustang. Live in NC. There were a lot of hints laying around...only to be picked up by one of my favorite members (fathom). :D

The reason I chose the car for his wedding present was I knew he missed it. I asked him about it several times throughout the past year, and he always said he didn't want it back. Which was a bunch of BS. I knew he missed it and I didn't want him to miss it anymore, so I called a bunch of people and tracked the "baby" down. Its now sitting in our garage. He's like a kid with a new toy. BTW, he would never sell it again even if it were totaled. :)

First off, a stock 'stang is not going to take a 'vette. If you want to put an equal amount of "tuning and tweaking" into a vette, you end up with a no-contest race--again for the 'vette.

My experience on drags? I helped wrench a 8.90 class Comp car for 5 years, before I went to college. Have done 9.9/143 in a Camaro that will never see the street again.

My point being, if you want to pour all that time and money into a car, go ahead. If you want a car that kicks ass right off the lot, save your money and buy a 'vette. Even a used one will cost less and go faster than these brand new stangs.

Also, it would be great if you "fast" talkers would post a time slip.

Actually, I'm not sure spellcheck would catch that "mistake" because it's a masculine/feminine construction from French, not English. I've never really looked at an English dictionary for the correct use of the term, but fiancee (with an accent on the first "e") is correct to refer to FettsBabe. That makes you, Psychoholic, the fiance, or perhaps the "Doomed One". (just kidding -- congrats to you both!) :)

I think you've been smoking too much of the green stuff.

Nobody claimed otherwise. ALL he said was that his mustang took out some vettes. He said he bought it when he was 18, a brand new one. He didn't buy a vette, he bought a mustang. Arguing that a vette is better is pointless, all i'm trying to state is that an adequately modified mustang will take out a stock vette.

And BTW, the new mustang GT's do 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, if you want a used corvette that is doing that for the same price its gonna be pretty old.

Oh God. Why did I have to check back.

Now he needs to make you a nice dinner, a good bottle of wine, your favorite movie and a nice long foot massage. ;)

Cool story, but if you want that engine to accumulate some more miles, don't put a supercharger on it. Rebuild it first. No way a 200,000 mile Ford motor can stand the pressure.

Sorry for diappearing, I got called away from the office and didn't make it back home until 1:00am this morning. I'm dragging this morning but the OT sure will be nice.

<< No way a 200,000 mile Ford motor can stand the pressure. >>

I hope not (although it lived through some pretty impressive things so far) because that would give me a reason to start fresh!!! Seriously, I won't install the supercharger until I drop a fresh motor in. My goal right now is to completely gut the inside and do a real good cleaning and restoration job on the interior. I will follow that with doing the same to the exterior, than have the new motor dropped in.

I would elaborate on some other "lucky" areas but I will restrain from making the "Eye Of Sauron" look this way and lock this thread. :)

Thanks for all the good wishes, we'll post wedding pics a link to them after the wedding, that is if we survive all the last minute rushing and planning.

Lastly I hate to have to respond again to our resident jerk I'm Typing but since he decided to rear his ugly head again I figure I have to put a few things in perspective for him.

<< First off, a stock 'stang is not going to take a 'vette. If you want to put an equal amount of "tuning and tweaking" into a vette, you end up with a no-contest race--again for the 'vette. >>

If you have spent any time around the drag strip at all you should know speed boils down to one simple fact, money. If the cars are basically equal, by that I'm assuming there is not a huge difference in motor size, the person who pumps more money into their car will have the fastest car. Sure knowledge plays a part but with enough money you just have someone else tune the car, after all not everyone is a tuner.

<< My experience on drags? I helped wrench a 8.90 class Comp car for 5 years, before I went to college. Have done 9.9/143 in a Camaro that will never see the street again. >>

First of all let me say that that is a pretty impressive number. However, I have seen many Strip-Omly Stangs that push the traps in the 8 or even 7 second range. These cars are only built for the strip and are completely different from what I had referred to when I opened this thread. As a matter of fact I didn't even open this thread as a Mustang vs. Brand X war, my only reason for saying anything like that was to illustrate my history with the car.

<< My point being, if you want to pour all that time and money into a car, go ahead. If you want a car that kicks ass right off the lot, save your money and buy a 'vette. Even a used one will cost less and go faster than these brand new stangs. >>

If you want to spend an outrageous sum of money on a car forget the vette, go buy a Viper.

Well let's see I'm Typing it hasn't been raced at the strip in years, Fetts and I have moved several times since then, because until June we had been apartment-dwellers, so I would have to dig for them and hope I come up lucky. If you think I'm going to put my plans on hold to try and settle a debate with you, keep dreaming, you're not worth my time. Exactly were did I mention times for my car at the dragstrip that I have to substantiate anyway??? Then again what exactly would that prove??? I can run to a friend's house and use the timeslip for his Mustang. Then again maybe that's what you would do with your "experiance". How do we know you really helped "wrench" that car?? Maybe you just handed the wrenches to someone.

The bottom line here I'm Typing is the fact that this thread was started for me to reminisce old times, not to start a Ford vs. Chevy debate with you. If you wanted to start that you should have started another thread. It would have been pointless to do so, however, because nothing will ever be settled in an age-old debate such as this, but it would have been the correct thing to do. Out of all the posters here you would be the one here that I would expect not to do this. I have been posting here since a few months before the Caputo/WMC era and I lurked here months before that. After all that time I have to say that I have never seen nor spoke with anyone that is/was half the asshole you are. You never seem to have anything good to say to anyone, and I have seen this commented on many times. We all at one time or another get short with another poster here but you are a total consistant ass I'm Typing. Do the rest of the posters here a favor and go take a class in Social Skills.
